‘LORDS OF DULLSVILLE’ is the debut album for Perth thrash punk band LEECHES!, and contains 10 short and furious songs in less than 20 minutes. It is unbelievably tight, yet borders on the edge of meltdown, with each song abruptly ending 90 seconds after they begin. You’ve got just a slight moment of unexpected silence between songs to gather your thoughts before the next earworm enters the aural canal.

Al Smith captured the perfect LEECHES! sound for this record at Bergerk Studios in Perth. And once again, artist and punk rock icon Ray Ahn provides the amazing front cover illustration, as he did on their previous 7” ‘Rott’ (released 2012).

Having all been around the block a few times in various other bands, Benny J Ward, Glenn Salter and Leroy Sonic formed LEECHES! in 2011 to simply play the thrash punk music they grew up on. Music that was somewhat notorious with the skate scene of the 80’s such as Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Off, Hard-Ons, Poison Idea, and The Wipers etc.…it is music that still reverberates now in various underground scenes around the world. Perth is no different. LEECHES! regularly play alongside not just their W.A contemporaries, but touring Australian and international bands as well. The sun-drenched city may be far removed in terms of kilometres from the rest of the country, and the world, but it harbours an ever-flourishing collection of thrash and punk rock bands. LEECHES! is one of them.
